Generator and Builder FAQ

Updated this week

RSS.app wasn’t able to find any posts. What should I do?

If no posts were found:

  • Try generating the feed again using the RSS Generator or RSS Builder.

  • Make sure the website is public and doesn’t require a login.

  • Check your internet connection and browser settings.

  • Review our Troubleshooting Guide for more detailed steps.

What’s the difference between the RSS Generator and RSS Builder?

  • The RSS Generator only requires a URL and automatically pulls content from the page—perfect for quick, hassle-free setup.

  • The RSS Builder, on the other hand, gives you full control by allowing you to manually select specific sections of the webpage to include in your feed.

You can use either method depending on how much control you want over the content.

Can I create an RSS feed from a password-protected website?

No, RSS.app only supports publicly accessible pages. If a login is required (e.g., paywalls, gated content), we won't be able to generate a feed. You can test this by opening the website in an incognito window—if it asks for login, it's unsupported.

How can I check if my feed is valid?

Use the W3C Feed Validator to make sure your RSS feed is properly structured and readable by RSS readers. For more help, check our guide on Validating RSS Feeds.

Can I generate a feed from an existing RSS feed?

Yes! If you have a valid Native RSS feed, you can plug it into RSS.app to display content using widgets or combine it with others in a bundle. Learn more about Native RSS feeds here.

I can’t see any posts in the RSS Builder. What should I do?

Try the following:

  1. Enable JavaScript rendering in the Builder settings.

  2. Increase the timeout value—some websites take longer to load.

  3. Ensure the page doesn't require scrolling or interaction to load content.

If the issue persists, switch to the Generator or consult our step-by-step Builder guide.

How do I generate feeds for specific platforms?

We support feed generation from a wide range of websites and platforms. Check out our step-by-step guides for creating RSS feeds from platforms like Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, Bluesky, Rumble, LinkedIn, Telegram, Medium, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, Facebook, newsletters, Google News, The New York Times, CNN, and USA Today.
