How to use RSS Builder

Learn how to create custom RSS feeds.

Updated today

RSS Builder is a tool that lets you create a custom RSS feed by manually selecting specific elements from a website—such as article titles, descriptions, or images.

Auto Mode

Auto Mode simplifies feed creation—just select the article container, and our system automatically extracts titles, links, and images. No coding or manual setup required.

How to Use Auto Mode

  1. Paste the URL of the website you want to create a feed from and click Load Website.

  2. Select the article container to extract news posts.

Similar titles will automatically be selected, and appear in the Matching entries section on the right. This lets you verify that the correct elements (e.g., headlines, links, summaries) are being captured before generating the feed.

5. Once you've confirmed the desired content, click Generate to preview your feed.

6. Now that the feed is ready, click Save Feed to save it.

Manual Mode

Manual mode allows you to select specific website elements like titles, descriptions, images, dates, and authors to create a custom RSS feed, filtering out any irrelevant content.

How to Use Manual Mode

  1. Paste the URL of the website you want to create a feed from and click Load Website.

  2. Select Manual Mode.

Now, you'll see seven fields, with two required to create an RSS feed:

  • Article container* – Select where the news posts are located on the website.

  • Link* – Usually the URL to the news post; it may also be in the title.

  • Title – Choose the news post title.

  • Description – The summary or content of the news post.

  • Image – The main image associated with the post.

  • Date – The publication date of the post.

  • Author – The name of the post's author.

*-required to create an RSS feed

Note: After selecting at least two fields, you can create a feed from the website. However, for more detailed content, try selecting all available fields.

4. Select at least two elements for article container and link.

5. Once you've verified the content, click Generate to proceed.

6. Now that the feed is ready, click Save Feed to save it.

Note: If you don’t see website posts in RSS Builder or the page appears empty, the content is likely hidden behind JavaScript. In this case, enable the Render JavaScript feature from the menu on the right.

It has an Auto timeout, but you can adjust it manually to find the best setting for loading the content.

Types of Content

RSS Builder provides several content modes based on the kind of data you want to extract. Below is an overview of the available options and their use cases.

  • News extracts titles, descriptions, publication dates, and links from articles or blog posts.

  • Table captures structured data from HTML tables, treating each row as an individual feed item.

  • Change Detection monitors changes to a specific webpage element and creates a feed when those changes occur.

  • Logs tracks change logs or updates text from specific areas of a webpage.

  • Any Element creates a feed from any selected webpage element that doesn’t fit predefined categories.
