How to Track Website Changes for Stocks, Filings, and Earnings

Updated over 3 weeks ago

In markets, timing is everything — and often, the first sign of major news is a subtle change buried in a company's investor page, an SEC disclosures section, or a government website.

With RSS.app’s Change Detection feature in the RSS Builder, you can monitor a specific element of any web page (like a table, paragraph, or data box) and get an RSS alert. This gives traders and investors an edge by catching updates before they hit mainstream headlines.

What Is Change Detection?

The Change Detection feature lets you select a specific part of a webpage — for example:

  • A share price notice

  • A headline in a press release list

  • A financial summary table

  • An embedded alert or announcement

  • An SEC filings section

Whenever that selected element is updated, RSS.app creates a new RSS item, allowing you to track changes with precision — and skip the noise.

How to Set It Up

1. Paste the URL of the page you want to monitor into the RSS Builder.

2. Wait for the page to load and enable Change Detection mode.

3. Select the specific web element you want to track.

4. Click Generate.

5. Click Save to My Feeds to save the feed to your dashboard.

Only changes to the element you selected will trigger a new feed item.

Trader-Specific Use Cases

1. Track New SEC Filings on an Investor Relations Page

Many companies list their latest filings manually on a page before they appear on EDGAR or in news feeds.

→ Select the HTML element containing the most recent 8-K/10-K link.

2. Monitor Government or Central Bank Update Blocks

Track when central banks update interest rate decisions or monetary policy summaries.

→ Select the section of the page where summaries or tables appear.

3. Catch Changes to Earnings Announcement Tables

Some sites update upcoming earnings tables or outlooks silently — no press release, no alert.

→ Highlight just the table or date column.

4. Follow Macro Analyst Updates on Static Pages

Some analysts or hedge funds publish periodic updates in one place. You can track only the content block that gets changed when a new report is added.

Get Alerts When the Element Changes

1. Click on the Slack, Discord, or Telegram icon in Feed Overview.

2. Connect your workspace or bot.

3. Set the posting channel and message format.
