Learn how to configure settings that apply across all feeds

Updated this week

The Global Settings menu in RSS.app provides advanced customization options to control how your feeds behave across the platform.

To access Global Settings, click on the settings icon located at the top right of the screen, next to your profile picture.

Feed Settings

The Global Feed Settings section controls how many posts appear in your feeds and bundles, as well as how images, titles, descriptions, and dates are handled.

General

  • Max. number of posts in feeds: Set a limit on how many posts each feed should display.

  • Max. number of posts in bundles: Set a limit on how many posts appear when combining multiple feeds into a bundle.

  • Image Tag: Control whether images appear in your feed and where they are placed.

  • Title Tag: Option to limit title length if needed.

  • Description Tag: Control description formatting, including HTML support and description length.

  • Date Tag: Choose whether to allow future-dated posts and estimate missing article dates.

For a detailed breakdown of each setting, check out our Feed Output Guide. While Feed Output settings customize individual feeds, Global Settings apply universally across all your feeds.

X / Twitter

  • Include embeds: Enables rich media previews from X (formerly Twitter) in the feed.

X / Twitter post with embed:

X / Twitter post without embed:

  • Prefix posts with @username: Adds the Twitter handle of the original poster before the tweet content.

  • Remove URLs from title: Automatically removes links from tweet titles for cleaner formatting.

YouTube

  • Include video in iFrame: Embeds YouTube videos directly in the feed using an iFrame.

  • Include description: Adds the full video description to the feed entry.

Facebook

  • Link to original article instead of FB: Redirects users to the original source of the post instead of linking to the Facebook post.

Click Save to apply your changes or Reset Settings to return to default configurations.

Global Filters

Global Filters let you automatically hidу unwanted content or filter posts based on keywords. Instead of adjusting filters for each individual feed, these settings apply across all your feeds at once.

  • Auto-hide posts based on missing elements: You can automatically hide posts that lack images, descriptions, dates, or secure links. Duplicate descriptions or titles can also be removed.

  • Whitelist: Ensures that only posts containing certain keywords appear in your feed. Enter keywords and choose whether to apply them to the Title, Description, Link, or Image URL.

  • Blacklist: Blocks posts that contain specific keywords. Enter keywords and choose whether to apply them to the Title, Description, Link, or Image URL.

Click Save to apply changes or Reset Settings to revert to default filtering rules.

Widget Security

This section controls which domains are allowed to display your RSS feed widgets, ensuring that your content is only displayed on authorized websites.

If you embed your RSS feed on a Google Site, add googleusercontent.com to the list.

If you are embedding your feed on Wix, add filesusr.com and usrfiles.com as trusted domains.

Click Save to confirm changes or Reset Settings to remove all trusted domains.

UTM Tags

UTM tags are used for tracking where your feed traffic comes from, making them useful for marketing and analytics.

  • Enable UTM Tags: When turned on, this will automatically append tracking parameters to feed URLs.

  • UTM Medium: Defines the medium where the feed is displayed (e.g., rss-widget).

  • UTM Campaign: Allows you to track campaigns by adding unique identifiers.

  • UTM Content: Helps distinguish different ads or links.

  • UTM Term: Used for tracking specific keywords.

  • UTM Source: Identifies the origin of your traffic (e.g., rss.app).

Click Save to enable UTM tracking or Reset Settings to remove existing parameters.

Affiliate Tags

Affiliate tags let you monetize your RSS feed by automatically inserting tracking links into your feed content.

  • Enable Affiliate Tags: When enabled, affiliate IDs are added to outgoing links in your RSS feed.

  • Website Name: Enter the name of the platform where the affiliate program is hosted (e.g., eBay or Etsy).

  • Query Parameters: Define how tracking parameters are added to links (e.g., customId=xxxx&affiliateId=xxxx).

Click Save to activate affiliate tracking or Reset Settings to remove all affiliate tags.
