Learn how to configure basic feed settings

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Edit window in RSS.app allows you to customize the details of your RSS feed, ensuring it displays the correct information for subscribers. Below is a breakdown of each field and option available in this window.

1. Feed Information

At the top of the window, you will see the feed’s current details, including:

  • Feed Name: The name of the RSS feed.

  • Feed URL: The source URL of the feed.

  • Description: A short summary of the feed’s content.

2. Editable Fields

You can modify the following fields to personalize how the feed appears.

Feed Title

This field allows you to rename the RSS feed to better match how you want it displayed.

Description

This is a brief summary of the feed's content. You can modify this to provide more context or keep it concise.

3. Icon URL / Show in XML

This allows you to include a custom icon URL that will appear in RSS readers. Replace this URL with a different image link if you want to use a custom logo.

If the toggle switch is enabled (blue), the icon will be displayed in the XML version of your feed.

4. Display Author As

This setting allows you to control how the author name is shown in the feed:

  • Hostname: Displays the domain name (e.g., nytimes.com).

  • Website Name: Displays the full website name (The New York Times).

  • Author: Shows the original author's name if available.

  • Custom: Allows you to enter a custom author name.

By default, this option is toggled off. If you want to enable it, switch it on and select your preferred author format.

Click Save to apply any changes made or Cancel to discard edits and return to the previous screen.
