Create a live RSS feed from your Google Sheets data

Updated this week

With Zapier, you can automate your RSS feed to update instantly whenever new data is added to Google Sheets—no coding needed.

Prerequisites

Set up your Zap

Zaps are automated workflows on Zapier that connect apps and trigger actions based on events.

  1. Log into Zapier.

  2. Click + Create and select Zaps.

  3. Click Trigger and search for Google Sheets.

  4. Under Trigger Event, select New or Updated Spreadsheet Row.

  5. Connect your Google Sheets account and select the spreadsheet and worksheet you want to use.

  6. Select a test row to ensure Zapier can pull data from your spreadsheet.

Ensure your spreadsheet is set to Anyone with the link can view so Zapier can access it.

Configure the RSS feed

  1. Click + Add Step and search for RSS by Zapier.

  2. Select Create Item in Feed as the action event.

  3. In the setup menu, fill in the required fields:

    • Feed URL: Choose a unique URL for your feed.

    • Title: Select the column that should appear as the RSS item title.

    • Source URL: Choose the column that contains the direct links to each item.

    • Content: Select columns that should be included in the RSS description.

    • Additional Fields (Optional): Customize your feed further by adding metadata such as Author Name, Media URL, etc.

  4. Click Test step to verify that your feed data is structured correctly.

Each row in your spreadsheet must have a unique URL for proper RSS feed generation.

Activate and save

  1. Click Publish to activate the Zap.

  2. Copy the Zapier RSS Feed URL and paste it into RSS.app.

  3. Now that the feed is ready, click Save Feed to save it.

Your RSS feed will now automatically update whenever a new row is added or an existing row is modified in your Google Sheets spreadsheet.
